Sick people movement, a sociology look

The sociology have many interest and study objects, one of this its the health. The health its a fundamental topic for a sociology, its a right of the people, and the breach of this right must be denounced for the sociology and the citizens.

Chile, the tiger of America Latin, begin to show symptoms of delay and poverty when we see the health system of Chile and how the authorities ignore the popular demands. In Chile exist a system public (FONASA) and private (ISAPRE), the first its used for the majority of the population (70%) and the second its used for a small part of the population (15%). The first system don't have enough resource for satisfy the demands of health; people died waiting an attention, or died because FONASA don´t cover them illness. In this same way, the medicine in Chile is so expansive and the State don´t help families to buy the medicine. The second system its excellent, but is so expansive for the majority of people. And the utilities that obtained  the ISAPRES its so high. In Chile the businessman profit with the health, profit with a human right. And the liberal state intent to reduce to minimum the expense in social rights.

For the bad system of health in Chile, in May of this year, the "sick people" was organized and march in the center of Santiago for a system of health dignified. The protest bring together almost five thousand people against the actual health system, demanding a support of state.

The fight for a dignified health system recently begin, the victory is most necessary than impossible. Forward with all of forces of the history!

  1. Hello Nico

I like your text, and I assign with your personal opinion about the health problem.
The sociology always sees the social movement and is very important for the sociologist to be informed about this topics.
The health must be a social right and we must fight for this.

I agree with you, because in Chile you look and only you see problem in the healt system and in addition of the problems of budget, the medicament are to expensive for poor people, so I think is very necessary a change in the health system.
